I am concerned if I am liable for part of the debt that he incurred while he was alive. Who is responsible for his funeral/burial expenses because he did not have life insurance?

Answer to Readers Question: If someone dies in Canton, Ohio and does not have a life insurance policy the family members are not liable for the bills. If the person has a spouse, then the spouse is liable for the bills and is the only person responsible for the person’s debts if the couple resided in a community property state or if the debts were jointly incurred.
